Headaches
Headaches
are a common problem affecting nine out of ten Americans. The pain can range
from mild to debilitating and may even result in nausea. The causes are
varied, but there is something you can do about the most common forms of
headache with out resorting to constantly popping pills
A 2001
study at Duke University found that spinal manipulation resulted in rapid
improvement for those headaches originating in the neck. The relief was longer
lasting and with few side-effects than that obtained by commonly prescribed
medicines.
It is
important to determine the cause of a headache and rule out an underlying
disease processes. A headache due to some disease process, such as a tumor,
would be considered a “secondary” headache and should be treated medically.
However, more than 90% of all headaches are classified as “primary,” such as
tension, migraine or cluster headaches. “Primary” headaches are good candidates
for chiropractic care.
